She retired as a Professor in Reproductive Biology from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, after nearly 30 years of dedicated service.
A trailblazer in the field, she was Sri Lanka’s pioneering clinical embryologist and played a pivotal role in achieving the country’s first IVF baby by the local experts. She significantly contributed to establishing Sri Lanka’s first Embryology, Endocrinology, and Reproductive Biology laboratories, both at the University of Colombo and in the private sector.
With expertise spanning Clinical Chemistry and Embryology, she also serves as a Technical Assessor in Clinical Chemistry for the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board and is a Certified Consultant in Laboratory Accreditation. Her numerous accolades include the Woman of Achievement in Science and Technology, Sri Lanka (2006), the National Science and Technology Award (2005), and multiple Presidential Awards for Excellence in Scientific Publications.
